THE ENVIRONS

Morzine is easily accessed by road, rail and air transport. The nearest airport is Geneva which is under an hour away by car. There is also a frequent bus service during the winter months. There are also bookable minibus transfer services (e.g. www.alpinecab.com) It is also easy to access the area via Chambery & Grenoble airport. The motorway is just 25 minutes down the mountain thus avoiding those winding queues up to the resort!

Trains  come directly from Paris into Thonon on lake Geneva where a local bus service connects to Morzine.

Morzine is a lively village which very much retains its alpine charm both winter and summer. There are all sorts of facilities, bars, restaurants, a large sports centre which has a large indoor ice rink (and ice hockey matches throughout the winter). There is a large open air swimming complex for the summer months

Les Gets (5 minutes by car) is a smaller alternative venue and offers  a charming place for promenading in their pedestrianised streets in the early evening and floodlit sledging and skating during the winter.

For a change from the mountains, a 40 minute scenic drive takes you down to the pretty towns  and beaches at Evian and Thonon-les-Bains on Lake Geneva.

THE SKIING

Morzine is situated in the heart of the Portes du soleil and the position of the chalet means it is an easy drive to many of the lift stations which access this vast area. The slopes are beautifully groomed and well signposted and linked making it very easy to explore.

The skibus stop (within 5 minute walk from the chalet) runs to the Pleny lifts for Morzine/Les Gets skiing or to the Super Morzine lift for Avoriaz.

The Morzine/les Gets skiing is plentiful and particularly good for families, with ski schools out of Morzine & Les Gets.

There is plenty of parking if travelling to the slopes by car, with access to the nursery slopes in Morzine or Les Gets. Alternatively a 15 minute drive takes you to Ardent via Montriand – for the Les Linderets/Chatel access or the ski station at Podrain for the cable car into Avoriaz.

There is a wide choice of mountain restaurants for snacks or long lunches, many with beautiful views.
There are 2 British ski schools, (www.britishskischool.com),  an International ski school and the ESF.

SUMMER ACTIVITIES

The area has plenty to do for the summer too. The lifts are open for June, July & August and you can walk or bike down from the top. Morzine has a fantastic open air pool and there is swimming in the lakes at Montriond and les Gets. There are other activities such as white water rafting and mountain boarding as well as enjoying the surroundings by foot or car.
